Maurer Wells’ Successful First Annual Food Drive for the Food Bank of Northern Indiana
Pledging to Match Donations
In an effort to amplify the impact of the campaign, Maurer Well made an additional pledge, "we decided to match every pound of food donated, with a pound purchased by our company." This meant that for every can of soup, box of pasta, or bag of rice donated, the company would contribute an equal amount of food to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. This commitment, which speaks to Maurer Wells’ deep investment in local welfare, ensured that the food drive reached a larger scale and had a more significant effect on those in need. With the help of some student athlete volunteers from Riley High Schools Cross Country, Track, and Swim and Dive Teams, owners Chris and Tim Maurer went out and purchased 1000 extra pounds of food!!! Bringing the grand total to roughly 1500 pounds!
The Results
"We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our customers," said Chris Maurer. "Their willingness to support this project, and the food bank in particular, has been inspiring. It’s not just about offering a discount; it’s about coming together as a community to help our neighbors in need."
By the end of the campaign, Maurer Well had exceeded their initial expectations, and the total amount of food donated was enough to provide meals for hundreds of families in Northern Indiana. These donations will help fill the shelves of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, which serves individuals and families throughout the region who struggle with food insecurity. This was the largest total donation that the Food Bank received in 2024.
Looking Ahead
Given the success of their first food drive, Maurer Well has already expressed plans to make the event an annual tradition. "This is just the beginning," said Chris. "We’re excited to continue growing this initiative, building on the momentum we’ve created, and finding new ways to support our community."
For many, the food drive served as a reminder of the importance of giving back and the impact of collective action. As we move into a new year, Maurer Wells' commitment to supporting those in need will undoubtedly continue to make a positive difference in Northern Indiana.
